One of my greatest joys has always been cooking meals for my family, friends, and really anyone who needs a home-cooked meal. Over the years and multiple health issues, my food and seasoning choices became quite limited.  In the earlier phases of my health journey, the first thing to go was gluten.  My family and I quickly realized we didn’t care for the flavor or texture of the gluten free baked goods I was buying. In turn, my first quest was baking gluten free delicacies that no one would suspect were gluten free.  As my health progressed to get worse, my dietary and spice restrictions narrowed greatly, as did the items I could purchase in local grocery/specialty stores that I could consume.  With my passion for cooking, I would not settle for anything less than delicious and flavorful meals. In turn, I started making my own spice blends as this would allow me to continue to whip up tasty meals for all that are near and dear to me.  I immediately started sharing samples of my season blends with close friends, who started requesting refills when their jars were getting low.  I was slower to come to the idea of selling my spice blends and gluten free baked goods than my husband and children were (they have always been my biggest fans). Then one evening, a group of women were inquiring about my spice blends and asked if I would consider making spice blends for them. It was in that moment, I realized it was time to launch Mama Kissa’s.

Mama Kissa’s is in honor of my dear grandma, Luella, who called me Kissa when I was little (that was how I said my name).
